It’s been quite a ride for Texas Tech basketball this season. The Red Raiders started the year unranked in the AP poll but quickly rose up the rankings with their high-scoring offense and tenacious defense. They won their conference tournament and earned a number three seed in the NCAA Tournament. Then they went on an improbable run, defeating top-seeded teams like Gonzaga and Michigan en route to the National Championship game.

Now, the Red Raiders are just one win away from claiming their first ever national title. Standing in their way is Virginia, a team that is also seeking its first championship. The Cavaliers are no stranger to close games, as they needed overtime to defeat Auburn in the semifinals.

This should be a great game between two evenly matched teams. It should come down to who makes the big plays in crunch time. Whichever team can do that will be crowned the national champion.

Texas Tech’s Road to the National Championship

Texas Tech’s Road to the National Championship was a great ride for fans and players alike. The team went undefeated in conference play and won the Big 12 Championship. They then went on to beat some of the best teams in the country en route to the National Championship game. It was a great season and a great accomplishment for the program.

The regular season

Texas Tech started the season unranked, but quickly changed that perception by winning their first 12 games. The Red Raiders looked like a solid team, but they hadn’t faced many tough opponents. That changed in late January when they took on then-No. 6 Kansas. The Jayhawks were a perennial powerhouse, but Texas Tech won handily, 85-73.

The victory was a sign that the Red Raiders were for real, and they proved it by winning their next 14 games. They lost to Baylor in the regular season finale, but it didn’t matter. Texas Tech had done enough to earn a No. 3 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The conference tournament

The conference tournament is the last chance for a team to impress the Selection Committee and secure a high seed in the NCAA Tournament. It’s also a chance for teams to play their way into the tournament. The conference tournament format varies from conference to conference. Many tournaments are single-elimination, while others are double-elimination or use a seeding system.

The conference tournament generally starts on a Monday and ends on Saturday or Sunday. The first few days of the tournament are commonly referred to as “play-in” or “first-round” games. These games typically feature the lowest seeds in the field playing each other with the winner advancing to the main draw of the tournament.

The main draw features the majority of the teams in the field and is generally structured so that the higher seeds play later in the week and have a easier path to the championship game. The lower seeds, on the other hand, play early in the week and have a tougher time making it to Saturday or Sunday.

The championship game is usually played on Saturday or Sunday afternoon and is televised nationally. The winner of the conference tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The NCAA tournament

The NCAA tournament is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently featuring 68 college basketball teams from all Division I conferences. The tournament was created in 1939 by the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and was originally called the National Invitation Tournament. The NCAA took over control of the tournament in 1951, and it has since become one of the most prestigious events in all of sports.

March Madness, as the NCAA tournament is now commonly known, is celebrated by millions of fans each year. It is perhaps best known for its upsets, as lower-seeded teams often defeat higher-seeded teams en route to the Final Four. The tournament has also been a breeding ground for future NBA stars, with many players using the platform to showcase their skills and improve their draft stock.

The 2019 NCAA tournament will begin on March 19 and will conclude with the National Championship game on April 8.

It has been an incredible journey for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. They have fought their way through a tough conference and a challenging NCAA tournament to reach the National Championship game. Along the way, they have garnered the support of fans from all over the country. It has been an exciting ride and one that is not over yet. The Red Raiders will take on the Virginia Cavaliers in the National Championship game on Monday night. It promises to be a great game and one that will be remembered for years to come.
