Billy Gillispie

Billy Gillispie is the current head coach of Texas Tech basketball. He was hired on April 1, 2011. Prior to coaching at Texas Tech, he coached at the University of Kentucky and Texas A&M University. Gillispie has also coached in the NBA Development League and was an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks.

Chris Beard

The current head coach of Texas Tech Men’s Basketball is Chris Beard. He was hired on April 15, 2016, after the firing of Tubby Smith. He led the Red Raiders to the NCAA tournament in his first season as head coach and has continued to do so in his second and third seasons.

Chris Beard has been the head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders basketball team since 2016. He has led the team to two NCAA tournament appearances, including a trip to the 2019 NCAA championship game. His overall record as a head coach is 97-55.

His Time at Texas Tech

Since taking over the program in 2016, Beard has led the Red Raiders to a 77-27 record, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2018 and a berth in the 2019 NCAA championship game.
